ABOUT MELISSA CLEMENS

Inspiring ideas, one student at a time.

When I was little, I had what many adults refer to as an “overactive imagination.” I would lose myself in the colorful worlds of Dr. Suess, Shel Silverstein and Roald Dahl.

Later, as I traveled through the confusing landscape of adolescence, I leaned on writing as a way to make sense of the world, filling my journal with pages and pages of thoughts and questions, ideas and frustrations.

Now as an adult, writing continues to be my most trusted and treasured mode of communication. It has been an asset to me throughout my career, as I have authored and edited hundreds of pieces during my tenures as marketing manager, professional proposal writer, blog editor, and executive ghost writer.

Today, I enjoy my career as a writing and grammar coach, showing students how to become more effective and confident communicators. I am especially excited about my work with rising high school seniors, helping them stand out in the college application process through their unique and vibrant stories.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Stanford University and completed a certification in creative writing from Brown. But all credit for my grammar education goes to my elementary school teacher Mr. Lane-Smith, whose love for the English language was contagious.
